How do you build a company around the problems no one else wants to touch? 🛠️
In this episode of A Founder’s Life, Fletcher Wilson, co-founder and CEO of Throne Labs, shares his journey from building medical devices to reinventing public bathroom infrastructure — and why tackling “unsexy” problems can unlock massive impact.
Fletcher Wilson is the co-founder and CEO of Throne Labs, a startup reinventing public bathroom infrastructure with modular, solar-powered units designed for cities, communities, and high-traffic spaces. Known for tackling “unsexy” but deeply important problems, Fletcher brings a background in mechanical engineering and product design to building innovative solutions that others often overlook.
Before founding Throne, Fletcher spent over a decade developing medical devices, including a catheter-based technology to treat chronic venous insufficiency. A graduate of the Stanford Biodesign program, he is deeply rooted in need-finding—starting with real-world problems and validating them before building solutions.
Under his leadership, Throne has grown to 72 deployed units across four U.S. markets (Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Bay Area, Detroit/Ann Arbor), offering cities a flexible and clean alternative to traditional infrastructure.
Beyond his work, Fletcher is a husband and father of four, balancing the chaos of family life with the challenges of entrepreneurship. He is passionate about efficiency, mentorship, and helping hardware founders navigate the unique challenges of scaling physical products.
